NZ: Where We Are

Hi there,
Thought I'd take a photo of our place so you can see for yourself that where we are is fine.
I have posted on Facebook some photo's of Chch, they are amazing, check them out.
We woke this morning to a 4.1 mag & the last 10 mins have sent us a few rocks so it's still very much happening still.
Taylor ended up at emergency Dr last night, he has dropped a growth plate on his hip so he's on crutches, don't know how long for at this stage, the Dr didn't really know too much about it last night, had to check with Orthopaedic at hosp.  will probably get it all checked out at hospital.  He couldn't move his leg at one stage.  Just what we need haha
The dogs were doing fine but have started to panic again this morning because we've had a few.
Just as one came thru before the phone rang, it was Hugh ( John's brother ) in Scotland haha John was out on his garden seat working away, I told Hugh I'd have to go see if he was still on his perch hahaha
All's ok though.
Thistledaeme looks good on the house pillar, so pleased with that.
Will keep you all posted.
Love to all
Linda

NZ: Follow-up from Linda

Hi there,
well we are just getting up, woke a couple of hours ago to another shock going thru the place.
We are all fine , have water, power, sewage so we are the lucky ones, especially still having each other as there are so many people in a bad way.
The houses are fine, I think Greig's could have done without this happening again but ok.
All the kids are good, Thorvin & Summer being the only ones who are a bit panicky when each shake happens, they have been thrown around too many times now.
The city as you will all have seen on TV is a disaster, we still don't know who has been killed but Jonnie's ( Lorna's partner ) brother has lost his mother in law, hasn't been found as yet or if so not identified so we feel for them all.
It's taking such a long time for them to recover people but is totally understandable.
Our dogs were just getting back to a bit more normal till a couple of quakes hit last night around 4.4 mag so that has them rattled once again.  Sedatives helped them sleep the night but woke at 5.50am to yet another, they'll be OK.
John didn't get his op, he was hanging out for , on Thursday so he's still having to put up with the pain he's had for so long now.  His rotator cuff is causing problems, has torn muscles.
Ah well time to go get myself ready for the day ahead.
So once again no need to worry, we are all doing ok, Lorna getting larger by the minute, Greig txt when the 4.4 mag went thru last night asking if that was her falling over hahahaha.  See we still have our sense of humour hahahaha
Love to you all

NZ: A Message from Linda

Hi there, short message to let you know we are all ok, which is more than we can so for a lot of Christchurch people.
This was such a bad quake & terrible destruction.
The city was a mess before but it's in such a state now, gonna be along time before its all sorted.
Wasn't as hgih as last one but stronger as it was shallower.
We couldn't get a hold of Karen & kds for hours as she was away collecting them.
Anyway we are all fine & John & I are the only ones without power.
The dogs are just about to have a heart attack, shaking like anything.
Greigs got more damage, Lorna has some damage & don't know about Karens yet.
I am on Lornas comp. different kepboard so excuse the mistakes.
anyway we'll keep you in touch on FB etc.
Love you all
Linda xxxx

NZ: Deadly Earthquake hits Christchurch, Russells all okay

By now you've probably heard about yesterday's 6.2 magnitude earthquake in Christchurch. The damage is definitely devastating and my heart goes out to the families who lost love ones — the count is 65 at the moment and expected to rise. Selfishly I am happy though for, thankfully, our family down there are all well. Dad and Susan received a call from Linda early this morning (U.S. east coast time) to confirm that fact.

If you haven't been keeping up with the rumblings in that area of NZ, they have had literally thousands of small earthquakes and "aftershocks" since last September. Many of those aftershocks were bigger than any earthquake most of the rest of us have ever felt. There is even a website that is just devoted to news of these quakes and shocks (http://www.earthquake-christchurch.com/).

To the Russells, glad to hear you are okay. We're thinking about you.

Random Old Photo #2

Okay, the first one was pretty hard. There were a few guesses, but know one really knows for sure who all was in that photo, I think. And I certainly don't know.
This one's easier.
