Dear Hockey Experts,
of course, i hate the bloody devils nearly as much as i hate celtic. so maybe i'm biased.
how have you been robert? nice to hear from you. shall i start a playoff rant on my blog so we can all join in?
As you are aware, I am your typical hardcore playoff hockey fan that doesn't pay much attention to the regular season since everyone makes the playoffs except for the Maple Leafs.
If you saw the end of the Devils game, Brodeur was bumped while getting into position for what proved to be the game winning shot. The bump occurred as the Hurricane player was backing into him while trying to get to the front of the net.
Brodeur was incensed there was not an interference call and Chico Resch went on a long diatribe about it as well.
Question: If you saw it, did it seem like incidental contact or interference?
Cheers,
Robert

My response:
incidental at most ... brodeur is a big sore loser, always has been. if you saw the flyers game you'd have seen sidney crosby crash the net with the puck basically in his lap as he shoved biron further into the net ... if that was a goal, then so was the one against the almighty martin. he should be penalized, fined or suspended for his unsportsmanlike conduct after the game. he could've hurt a player, an official or a fan whacking that stick against the boards like that. big baby.

Devs - Hurricanes - a classic series you may say? From an impartial viewer games 5 and 7 probsbly looked like gems. Clean hard hockey.
On the other hand, the way the Devs lost is going to tear at this organization for a long time. And, it starts with their power play, or lack thereof in this series. At the 7 minute mark they looked in control but it appeared they stopped pushing forward. When you play not to lose, you lose. Do you think Sutter is better suited for coaching Italian Futbol? And, now the Canes have a hex over the Devs.
Rangers - Caps - strange series. Blowout wins by the Caps and tight wins by the Rangers. the Ovechkin goal in game 6 was a gem. But, the series was marred by Tortorello (whatever his name is) going after a fan in game 5 because he has water poured on him. Did someone tell him, water does not stsin? Big baby. What a blockhead? The Rangers deserve him. Just another example of a mickey mouse organizaton that will not win another Cup in my lifetime. Then, again that could describe 1 or 2 other teams i follow.
Once the futbol season is over just fast forward to when the new futbol and football seasons open because NY Baseball is getting ugly quickly.
being a philly fan, i could not have been happier with the results tuesday night. plus i'd love to see roddy (brind'amour) get another cup — i'm still mad at the flyers for getting rid of him. um, lindros who? oh yeah, wasn't he supposed to be the next great one, but with size?
i digress. looking forward to the battle between sidney and alex the great. should be a fun series.
my predix:
pittsburgh in 6
boston in 5 (unfortunately)
detroit in 6
chicago in 7
what say you nhl fans?
Yeah, Caps - Penguins is the marquis matchup. Was looking forward to seeing that game tomorrow night only to notice it will be on saturday afternoon. Ugghhh!!!
i only got to see the first 2 periods of the sidney vs. alex match-up before heading into work ... but man! was that ever a hard-fought game. kudos to alex and the caps for winning the first of the series at home. it looks like it''ll be a great series.
well, it looks like Boston will win tonight now that they are 3-0. Not surprised the Canes are doing so well, only surprised Boston is already for their playoff lives right now. I'm hoping the Caps can come back but considering they had to go 7 against the StRangers, doesn't look good. Haven't seen any of the Chicago series but surprised the Red Wings actually lost that game 2. Anahiem was totally outplayed in that game.
one baseball comment - do you really think bringing back joe torre is going to correct this mess?
i'll give you this about joe girardi - he is wound a little tight and tried to be a little too tony larusso with his lefty/righty batter/pitcher matchups. otherwise, i really can't make a big deal about him when the bullpen has been so awful. The you consider the A-Roid Circus, and the new Stadium fiascos, it adds up to one big mess. If they miss the playoffs, you will get your wish regarding Girardi but it should also include the architect of this team. When it comes to pitching busts, the blame squarely lies with Cashman.
i was going to respond on your twitter but this low techie is brain dead now.
